Austin if this were Facebook, I would like your last comment above. I did like the format this year as well. Although I would like the play in game to the double elim brackets to be best of 3. I mean don’t get me wrong, I did win our play-in game so it was do or die to me, but I think both of our teams would have shot better if we didn’t feel that pressure of win or go home, but then again, I guess that is the pressure we face every game 3rd day basically, lol. The mini brackets were definitely a great idea and I do agree, it went a LOT smoother than last year. It kind of reminded me of the first Beast of the East with the 8 mini brackets.
I will be setting up a "challenge the champ" table so I can actually play a few games.
What would draw more of a crowd and cash would be a Challenge the TPC Table.
lol, there might be a line around the block for this.
I started to read this then I continued living my life.
Agreed and Agreed with the jumbled up paragraphs comment. Please use at grammar from at least a 3rd grade, level, but I did see the words Davis Cup which doesn’t sound too terrible.
I agree with pretty much what everyone has said on here. Mike and Garrett did a phenomenal job running the tournament. You guys definitely need to get a cut next time or like someone said, add an additional $5 per person to the entry and fee and then take that extra $800 for running it.
I also feel I am in the same boat as Defo where my whole team was not there on time and we were getting Mike/Garrett stuff by piecemeal (i.e. waiver, money for the shirts, the team picture) so I apologize for that, but shit happens. The venue is awesome and I am glad we had the big side of the bar this time around. That was clutch. Doing this more than once a year I think will take away a lot of the hype. Keep this a once a year type thing and have something else to fill the void.
On a side note, from a service standpoint, maybe I was lucky cuz I got my drinks like within 2 minutes of waiting there (knock on wood for next time). Or maybe it was my classy Marconi suit jacket that wowed the bartenders cuz I got drinks and food pretty fast, lol.
On to the next one, see you there.
Our team (Philly team) really shit the bed. There were games we should have won and just didn’t get the job done, plain and simple. I agree with everyone else and agree that Garrett and Mike ran a great tournament. This tournament gets better and better each time and I had a blast. See you all in AC.
I caught a couple of the games in between the rounds we weren’ t playing and I think overall people did not shoot as well as I have seen them shoot in other tournaments. Maybe people were a little hyped up or somethin, but that was my overall impression from what I saw. Still a great tournament overall as these get better and better every year.
My roommate and I purchased a bpong table from a Spencer’s, we got home took it out of the box, got it set up and laughed when we saw what it looked like.
Now, If you notice it, the guys arm is all fucked up. So it looks like someone drunk put our table together.
Anyone else bought a table that looks like this?!
Is it just me or did the pic not show? Anyhow, that’s why I buy directly from bpong. If anything went wrong, they stand by their product and in the past on here have replaced tables or compensated people.
There is a 1 on 1 tournament tonight at Gallagers on the Parkway in Philadelphia.
1st and 2nd Place will be recieving Entry only Bids into the AC tournament in June.
Start time is 930
World Series rules will be used
$20 Buy in
Kessler, how’d this turn out? You take this down, lol?
I agree with Barnes, Beast of the East is a great way to get a tournament with the talent of the World Series, except it is heavily concentrated on the talent part and not guys dressed up in karate suits, beer cans, or baby diapers. I’m all for having fun, but I’m not there to dress up and lose.
That being said, anyone wanna play my dominant throwing hand and you get to use your foot/toe to throw/kick the ball? I’ll give you 2:1 odds, $50, get at me, lol.
Also predictions aside, this is why we play the games. If we relied on predictions alone, the Colts would have won the Superbowl hands down…but we all know how that turned out.
P.S. I found all the women that Basile has smashed. Here they are fighting for his love back.
Philly team is just about complete, just need to get the names and addresses of the final people. Mike and Garrett, I will try and get those to you later today, but I already e-mailed the majority of our roster to you.
I don’t see the mohawk yet, until that, I’m not sold.
is what we did at my frat as far as the rules go, we had an actual vote. we gathered up all the variations of the rules that we had all played and debated them one by one. then we posted our house rules in big print on the wall of our pong room. I do agree with buying tables from bpong they are excellent quallity and hold up well to rough frat parties. Also the highest run ive heard of so far was my old roomate, last winter he sank 48 straight without a miss…i call it a record til i see one higher
lol, 48 cups in a row without a miss. Maybe he should play in this $50,000.00 tournament called the World Series of Beerpong. I mean if it’s so easy and all, then he should easily be able to take down the top teams. Perhaps he would like to play cash games against some people? Anyhow, we have come across this before. Head to some tourneys and see if you make 10 in a row and we’ll talk. It’s a lot different than your basement.
Not a problem Kessler, I don’t think you need to justify anything. In my eyes, you are "grandfathered" in so to speak on the NJ squad and the rules that Mike and Garrett have in place now are more than fair. Lookin forward to a solid BoE.
I honestly think the rule of 1 transplant player is more then fair. People are forgetting that there are teams such as both MD squads and the DOE squad that will 100% follow the rule.
It is not something that needs to be argued any more. Mike and Garret came up with a clear cut rule. LI needs to either select Twig or Chichester as simple as that. Both have some ties to NY so the other can play on 1 of the other 2 NY teams.
Also for the people that are questioning me as a transplant player I dont understand how I could be on any other team fairly and I am not just saying that to try and stack a certain team. I was asked to be on 3 teams MD, LI ( both pop and Fredo texted me) and NJ.
I went with NJ because I live 5 minutes from there and play 2 times a week there as well. All my partners ( Deep, Vince and Oneil are from NJ) If Philly had a team and I played in Philly I would be on that squad. I have been asked to go on a LONG vacation fromt the one Philly bar that hosts tournamnets because I won 10 in a row and I got in two fights there. The current team that is being put together near Philly is captained by 2 DE players and Ryan from NY. So that is NOT a philly team. Again my team sellection was for a couple reasons. 1) that is where I play my pong and 2) they are all my boys. Honestly if I wanted to try and manipulate the system would of teamed up with Pop, Fredo, Radesco and a few others but didnt think that was fair.
If people dont want Mike and Garret to be the final voice then the captains from the other teams should hold a vote to determine eligibility SP?
Kessler it is just me and Ryan who are captaing the team, John will be there just to make cups. Ryan goes to Nova and he lives in PA more months out of the year now than in NY so if you want to designate one captain, he would be it cuz he lives in PA. Yeah I live in DE, but there is NOTHING beerpong related in Delaware an I am literally a 20 minute drive up 95 to Philly. If Delaware had a team I would play on it. Would we get slaughtered, yes and the people on my team would probably bitch about everyone leaning and how easy it is and would get slaughtered so I’m going with the next closest thing, Philly.
In any event, I play up at Marty McGee’s a decent amount on Tuesdays and go up to Gallagher’s for bigger tourneys so me playing for the Philly team is not a stretch by any means. I think the primary job of being a captain is picking a solid squad. To do that, you have to have played a good amount and against a lot of different people to know who will not crumble under the pressure and hit their shots That is what Ryan and I are doing.
But enough rambling on and as Farley said, let’s get this shit goin and let’s stop the compalining. Garrett/Mike, if you’re reading this, our roster should be finalized by like Tuesday/Wednesday and we’ll get you the contact info for everyone.
